Project V Architecture lecture at Kuma International Architecture Week

August 2019

Project V Architecture lecture at Kuma International Architecture Week

In August, Vernes Causevic and Lucy Dinnen (Project V Architecture) presented the Most Mira Peace Centre project at the first Kuma International Architecture Week in Sarajevo, an event organised by Kuma International.

Project V Architecture gave a lecture on the Peace Centre project as part of a one day programme, which showcased the work of award winning contemporary architecture practices in BiH.  The Peace Centre is currently at the end of technical design phase and soon to be tendered for Construction to start in autumn 2019. This will be the first Rammed Earth building in BiH and create a new centre for youth community arts activity in Prijedor, and a permanent home in BiH for the British-Bosnian Charity; Most Mira.

Project V Architecture have worked closely with the Most Mira team to design not just a final building but a participatory architectural process, through their ‘Building Democracy through Architecture’ programme. This involves community, youth participation and hands on 'live project' experience for architecture students from BiH and the UK at every stage of the process and has already become a platform for University level architectural education. Most Mira plan to deliver the project through a series of on-site building residencies. We are now gearing for our Summer 2020 on-site rammed earth building residencies, which will be a part of our ‘Building Democracy through Architecture’ programme.

During our lecture, we also announced that the residencies will be a part of the Global Free Unit (GFU), as part of the GFU Sarajevo Classroom led by Project V Architecture, at which we will deliver building workshops in Rammed Earth construction with world leading Rammed Earth experts Martin Rauch and Lehm Ton Erde.  Application dates will be announced early next year, with on-site residencies scheduled from June 2020.
