In the Fog of War, Barbican, London
11th October 2022 we were honoured to take part in 'In the Fog of War’, a critical event in aid of sharing knowledge and raising support for the Kharkiv School of Architecture, Ukraine and the conversion around sensitive and appropriate reconstruction in post-conflict spaces. The event was organised by the Architecture Foundation on Stage at the Barbican in London, and curated by Professor Robert Mull of the Global Free Unit (gfu) and brought together researchers and practitioners from Beirut, Belfast and Sarajevo to reflect on and discuss approaches to post-conflict reconstruction in their home cities and approaches to Practice in post-conflict spaces.
Besides ourselves, speakers included Hiba Bou Akar (Colubia GSAPP), Mark Hackett (Hackett Architects), Robert Bevan, Professor Robert Mull and Oleg Drozdov, Iryna Matsevko, and Daria Ozhyhanova from the Kharkiv School of Architecture.
The event raised awareness and support for the Kharkiv School whilst bringing this important discussion to the fore of Architectural discourse. We presented and contributed work from over 10 years of working in post-conflict areas, from research and projects in Bratunac, Srbrenica, Prijedor and Sarajevo.
